D5 Girls Baseball Program - Lionesses

D5 Girls Baseball – Home of the Lionesses

D5 Girls Baseball is a girls only baseball program for players ages 8 to 14 from across the North Shore. It brings together girls from West Vancouver, Highlands, Mount Seymour, and Lynn Valley into one fun, welcoming community where they can learn, play, and grow together.

The Lionesses program is designed for girls who want to try baseball for the first time, as well as those who are ready to keep playing in a supportive girls environment. By combining players across leagues, we ensure teams can form each season and that girls always have a place on the field alongside teammates their own age.

More than anything, the Lionesses are about confidence, friendship, and belonging. Girls build skills, make new friends beyond their home league, and discover how fun baseball can be when they play together in a positive and encouraging setting.

Since launching in 2022, the program has continued to grow across the North Shore. Along the way, Lionesses teams have participated in league play, special girls events, and jamborees, including a 12U BC Girls Baseball Summer League gold medal in 2025. While those moments are exciting, what matters most is seeing girls return season after season with smiles, confidence, and a love for the game.

Girls of all experience levels are welcome. If your daughter is curious about baseball, loves being active, or is looking for a team where she feels comfortable and supported, the Lionesses are a great place to start.

What is D5 Girls Baseball

Year Round Pathway

The Lionesses program offers girls a clear and flexible pathway to play baseball throughout the year, with opportunities to join in the spring, summer, and fall. Families can choose a single season or continue through multiple seasons as interest and confidence grow. Each part of the program is designed to be welcoming, fun, and development focused, while keeping the experience social and supportive.

Spring Program

The spring season is based in West Vancouver and is where many girls begin their Lionesses journey. Spring focuses on learning the basics of baseball in a girls only environment, building confidence through practices and games, and forming friendships with teammates from across the North Shore. It is an ideal entry point for new players and a familiar, fun setting for returning girls who want to keep playing with friends while preparing for summer baseball.

Summer Program

During the summer, Lionesses teams take part in the BC Girls Baseball Summer League, with games played on the North Shore and across the Lower Mainland. The summer season offers more game play, team experiences, and opportunities to play against other girls teams. It is a great way for players to stay active, connected, and part of a team during the summer months. Girls are welcome to join the summer program whether or not they played in the spring.

Fall Program

Fall sessions focus on skill development in a relaxed and supportive setting. Practices emphasize hitting, throwing, fielding, and pitching, while allowing girls to try new skills at their own pace. Fall baseball is popular with players who want to continue after the summer season, as well as girls who are curious about baseball and want a gentle, low pressure introduction before spring.

Events and Jamborees

The Lionesses also participate in special girls baseball events throughout the year that bring players together from different communities. These events celebrate the fun, friendships, and shared experiences that make girls baseball special. Participation in events such as the Amanda Asay Jamboree gives players a chance to experience baseball in a festival style environment where everyone belongs and everyone plays.

Coaching and Support

The Lionesses program is community led and supported by dedicated parent volunteer coaches. These coaches are supported by paid instructors who help guide practices, share ideas, and support positive team leadership. This approach keeps the program family driven while providing consistency, confidence, and a positive experience for players across all age groups.

Who Can Join

Girls of all experience levels are welcome, and no previous baseball experience is required. Whether your daughter is picking up a glove for the first time or looking for a team where she feels comfortable and confident, the Lionesses offer a positive place to play, learn, and belong.

Pathways for Players Who Want More

For girls who are looking for additional challenge or exposure, the Lionesses can also serve as a pathway toward opportunities such as Baseball BC Aces teams, national development pathways, and girls only showcase events. These opportunities are optional and build naturally as players grow in confidence and interest.

We would love to welcome your daughter to the field and into the Lionesses community.
